                              Basically, Windows Media Player which comes with windows OS by default can supports some audio/video formats only. If you want to play a Flash video or a 3GP video then you have to install a new third party media player. But, some third party software can play only specific formats. If you want to play a another type of audio or video file that is not supported by the software then we need to download another third party software. It is both time waste and memory waste process.(Of course, there are some softwares like VLC Media player which can play almost all the audio/video formats.)
                               From the Windows Vista OS Microsoft had introduced a handy software "Windows Media Center" which plays audio/video files with high quality. It also can't play the audio/video files that are not supported by the Windows Music Player. 
                               To solve this problem with windows media player there is a software namely K-Lite Codec Pack. By installing the K-Lite Codec Pack, the windows media player can play almost all the audio and video formats. When you install this K-Lite Codec Pack the Windows Media Center also can play almost all the audio/video formats with high quality.


Basically, K-Lite Codec Pack is collection of VFW or ACM codecs, DirectShow filters and tools. There are three types in the K-Lite Codec Pack software. They are as follows:

  2. K-Lite Codec Pack Standard
  3. K-Lite Codec Pack Full
