Virtual box is a software created by company Innotek GmbH, purchased by Sun Microsystems  and now developing by Oracle.

At first it is a commercial software later in 2007 it was released as a open source software and released under GPL license.
Any way,if we come to the terms host OS & gust OS, the OS in which we install Virtual Box is called Host OS   and the OS which is installed in virtual box is known as Gust OS.

And the features of the Virtual box are:

  • NCQ support for SATA, SCSI and SAS raw disks and partitions
  • Snap Shots, Clipboard
  • Special drivers and utilities
  • Command line interaction in addition to GUI
  • Microsoft VHD support
  • 3D virtualization
  • 2D video acceleration
  • MAC OS X Server support
  • Multi-monitor guest setups in the GUI, for Windows guests
  • Deleting snapshots while the VM is running
  • Intel HD audio emulation
  • Intel ICH9 chipset emulation
  • The PUEL/OSE separation was given up in favor of an open source base product and a closed source extension pack that can be installed on top of the base product. As part of this change, additional components of VirtualBox were made open source (installers, documentation, device drivers)
